Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator

Location: Dyce, Aberdeen

Gregory Group is excited to announce an opening for a Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator based in Dyce, Aberdeen.

This role may require occasional travel to various operational sites as necessary.

Key Responsibilities of the HSEQ Coordinator:

  • Advocate for the Gregory Way by aligning with the Group's objectives and primary mission through the leadership of Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality initiatives.
  • Oversee and support Health & Safety and Quality measures across sites.
  • Promote enhancements to the Group's Health & Safety and Quality standards and awareness, including the Group's H&S Reporting Management System.
  • Provide guidance on relevant regulations, best practices, trends, and legal compliance to operational sites.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Company's Health & Safety Management System to uphold ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 certifications.
  • Support the initiation of new operational projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with operational business units.
  • Collaborate with Site and Department Managers and the HSEQ Central team to drive continuous improvements in HSEQ management processes and metrics, enhancing overall site and business performance.
  • Ensure the adoption of best practice HSEQ management processes, including hazard identification and reporting, safety discussions, incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, safe work systems, employee engagement, monitoring, and training.
  • Assist in the rollout of initiatives aimed at fostering a robust HSEQ awareness culture.
  • Support HSEQ audit programs and facilitate the resolution of any corrective actions.
  • Maintain the integrity of HSEQ performance metrics.
  • Contribute to the development, education, and training of the Health & Safety Ambassador community.
  • Ensure contractors are vetted and provide Risk Assessments and Method Statements as required.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of HSEQ information to employees through various channels (e.g., toolbox talks, notice boards, staff meetings, emails, etc.).
  • Champion the Group's internal 'Safety First' initiative.
  • Consider and document Business Continuity Planning (BCP).

Essential Qualifications for the HSEQ Coordinator:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, preferably within a related sector such as distribution and warehousing.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in an HSE or comparable position.
  • An industry-recognized qualification, such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • A proven track record of enhancing safety performance through behavioral and cultural transformation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, with comfort in presenting to senior management.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as business needs dictate.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and devise timely solutions.
  • Dedicated and conscientious work ethic.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 standards.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence is required for travel to different sites.

Desirable Qualifications for the HSEQ Coordinator:

  • Experience in transport and warehousing sectors.
  • Progress towards the NEBOSH National Diploma.
  • Familiarity with BRC Warehousing and Transport Standards.
  • Experience in finance.
  • Qualification in Continuous Improvement methodologies.
