Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator

Location: Dyce, Aberdeen

Gregory Group is excited to announce an opening for a Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator, based in Dyce, Aberdeen.

This role may require occasional travel to various sites as necessary.

Key Responsibilities of the HSEQ Coordinator include:

  • Advocating for the Gregory Way by aligning with the Gregory Group Objectives and the core Purpose (5P's), while leading and supporting the Group's Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality initiatives.
  • Overseeing and assisting with Health & Safety and Quality measures across sites.
  • Promoting enhancements to the Group's Health & Safety and Quality standards and awareness, including the Group H&S Reporting Management System.
  • Providing guidance on relevant regulations, best practices, trends, and legal compliance to site teams.
  • Facilitating the implementation of the Company's Health & Safety Management System to uphold ISO 45001 and ISO 9001, as well as BRC certifications.
  • Supporting the launch of new operational sites.
  • Building strong relationships and influencing operational areas within the business.
  • Collaborating with Site and Department Managers and the HSEQ Central team to drive continuous improvements in all HSEQ management processes and metrics, enhancing overall site and business performance.
  • Ensuring the adoption of best practice HSEQ management processes, including hazard identification and reporting, safety discussions, incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, trend assessments, risk evaluations, safe work systems, employee engagement, monitoring, and training.
  • Assisting in initiatives aimed at fostering a robust HSEQ awareness culture.
  • Supporting HSEQ audit programs and ensuring the resolution of any corrective actions.
  • Maintaining the integrity of HSEQ performance metrics.
  • Contributing to the development, education, and training of the Health & Safety Ambassador community.
  • Ensuring contractors are vetted and provide Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) along with any necessary documentation.
  • Assisting in the drafting of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Facilitating the communication of HSEQ information to employees through various channels (e.g., toolbox talks, notice boards, staff briefings, emails, etc.).
  • Championing the Group's internal 'Safety First' initiative.
  • Considering and documenting Business Continuity Planning (BCP).

Essential Qualifications for the HSEQ Coordinator:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, preferably within a related sector such as distribution and warehousing.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in an HSE or comparable position.
  • An industry-recognized qualification, such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • A proven track record of enhancing safety performance through behavioral and cultural transformation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, with comfort in presenting to senior management.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work hours as required by the business.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and devise timely solutions.
  • Dedicated and diligent work ethic.
  • Capability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines with short notice.
  • Robust decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 standards.
  • A valid UK Driving License is essential due to travel requirements.

Desirable Attributes for the HSEQ Coordinator:

  • Experience in transport and warehousing sectors.
  • Progressing towards the NEBOSH National Diploma.
  • Familiarity with BRC Warehousing and Transport Standards.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Qualification in Continuous Improvement methodologies.
