Position Overview

OBM People is seeking a qualified HSEQ Specialist to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in overseeing the health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems, ensuring adherence to applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management Systems: Ensure alignment with the organization's Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Assist in achieving established HSEQ objectives and plans.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring timely updates and communication of changes.
  • Facilitate and participate in HSEQ certification audits, addressing any identified non-conformities.
  • Support internal and subcontractor audits, ensuring effective resolution of non-conformities.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the HSEQ management system, including the creation and revision of procedures.
  • Evaluate external service providers concerning HSEQ standards and assist in the supplier approval process.
  • Maintain the electronic Non-Conformance Report (NCR) database, ensuring accurate registration and resolution of audit issues and incidents.
  • Participate in inter-company HSEQ meetings and complete scheduled HSEQ reporting.
  • Engage with local authorities and relevant bodies as directed by the HSEQ Manager.

Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality:

  • Oversee the reporting and analysis of accidents, incidents, and near misses, leading investigations and ensuring implementation of recommended improvements.
  • Maintain essential HSEQ activities, including risk assessments and safety inspections.
  • Foster a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with employees and management to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
  • Ensure proper reporting of safety drills and fire alarm tests.
  • Training: Provide health and safety training and HSEQ induction for new employees and visitors.
  • Conduct assessments related to Display Screen Equipment (DSE), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), and Manual Handling.
  • Coordinate First Aid and Fire Marshal responsibilities, ensuring clarity in roles.
  • Support occupational health initiatives as necessary, including the management of first aid supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • Environmental Management qualification or relevant experience.
  • Training in Root Cause Analysis.
  • Internal auditing certification for HSEQ management systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of UK HSEQ regulations and workplace welfare.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of API Q1 and Q2 standards.
  • NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Investigation qualification or willingness to pursue.
  • Membership in the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is advantageous.
