Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator

Location: Dyce, Aberdeen

Gregory Group is excited to announce an opening for a Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator, based in Dyce, Aberdeen.

This role may require occasional travel to various sites as necessary.

Key Responsibilities of the Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator include:

  • Advocating for the Gregory Way by aligning with the Gregory Group Objectives and the primary Purpose (5P's), while leading and supporting the Group's Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality initiatives.
  • Overseeing and assisting sites with Health & Safety and Quality compliance.
  • Promoting enhancements to the Group's Health & Safety and Quality standards and awareness, including the Group H&S Reporting Management System.
  • Providing guidance to sites on relevant regulations, best practices, trends, and legal compliance.
  • Aiding in the implementation of the Company's Health & Safety Management System to uphold ISO and BRC accreditations.
  • Supporting new operational launches.
  • Building strong relationships and influencing operational business sectors.
  • Collaborating with Site and department Managers and the HSEQ Central team to proactively achieve continuous improvements in all HSEQ management processes and metrics to enhance overall site and business performance.
  • Ensuring the adoption of best practice HSEQ management processes, including hazard identification and reporting, safety discussions, incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, trend evaluation, risk assessments, safe work systems, employee engagement, monitoring, and training.
  • Assisting in the rollout of initiatives to foster a robust HSEQ awareness culture.
  • Supporting the HSEQ audit programs and facilitating the resolution of any corrective actions.
  • Maintaining the integrity of HSEQ performance metrics.
  • Contributing to the development, education, and training of the Health & Safety Ambassador community.
  • Ensuring contractors are vetted and provide Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) along with any other necessary documentation.
  • Assisting in drafting Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Facilitating the dissemination of HSEQ information to employees through various channels (e.g., toolbox talks, notice boards, staff briefings, emails, etc.).
  • Championing the Group's internal 'Safety First' branding.
  • Ensuring Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is considered and documented.

Essential Qualifications for the Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a related industry such as distribution and warehousing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an HSE or comparable position.
  • An industry-recognized qualification such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • A strong history of enhancing safety performance through behavioral and cultural transformation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, with comfort in presenting to senior management.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work hours as required by the business.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data and provide timely solutions to challenges.
  • Diligent and detail-oriented.
  • Capability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines on short notice.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards.
  • Valid UK Driving License as travel to other sites will be necessary.

Desirable Qualifications for the Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator:

  • Experience in transport and warehousing.
  • Working towards the NEBOSH National Diploma.
  • Familiarity with BRC Warehousing and Transport Standards.
  • Financial experience.
  • Qualification in Continuous Improvement methodologies.
