Job Overview

As a Crisis Support Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to deliver a high-quality, recovery-oriented service to individuals facing various mental health challenges, including those with autistic traits and additional support requirements such as learning disabilities, physical health concerns, and substance misuse. Your role will emphasize promoting independence and fostering social inclusion. With a background in community-based mental health services, you will have the ability to inspire, engage, and motivate clients effectively.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as a Crisis Support Specialist, you will be tasked with providing a comprehensive, recovery-focused service to clients experiencing a spectrum of mental health issues. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting one-on-one engagement sessions to support clients in achieving their personal goals.
  • Facilitating activities both within the service and in the wider community.
  • Performing administrative tasks and signposting clients to additional resources.
  • Collaborating with fellow Crisis Support Specialists, Peer Support Workers, and Clinicians to ensure the delivery of personalized care.
  • Supporting individuals in a non-clinical environment aimed at alleviating immediate distress for those at risk of self-harm or experiencing trauma.
  • Providing essential information, safety planning, and signposting to meet the holistic needs of clients and their families.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess experience working with mental health service users and demonstrate the ability to engage and motivate individuals effectively. Key qualifications include:

  • A strong understanding of the complexities surrounding mental health, learning disabilities, and substance misuse.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for working within a community-based service.
  • A Health and Social Care qualification at level 2 or level 3, with a willingness to pursue further development.
