As a Crisis Support Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to deliver a high-quality, recovery-oriented service to individuals facing various mental health challenges, including those with autistic traits, learning disabilities, physical health concerns, and substance misuse issues. Your role will emphasize fostering independence and promoting social inclusion. With a background in community-based mental health environments, you will have the ability to inspire, engage, and motivate clients effectively.
Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as a Crisis Support Specialist, you will be tasked with providing a comprehensive, recovery-focused service to clients with diverse mental health needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging in one-on-one interactions with clients to support their recovery journey.
- Facilitating activities both within the service and in the wider community.
- Performing administrative duties and guiding clients to appropriate resources.
- Collaborating with fellow Crisis Support Specialists, Peer Support Workers, and Clinicians to ensure personalized care for each service user.
- Contributing to a non-clinical environment aimed at alleviating immediate distress for individuals at risk of self-harm or experiencing trauma.
- Providing essential information, safety planning, and signposting to meet the holistic needs of clients and their families.

Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will possess experience working with mental health service users and demonstrate the ability to inspire and engage clients. You should be adept at identifying barriers and understanding client needs, complemented by strong motivational skills. Experience in facilitating both individual and group activities, as well as engaging clients in mainstream services, is essential.
A background in working with individuals with complex needs, including mental health issues, learning disabilities, and substance misuse, is advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for success in this role. A qualification in Health and Social Care at level 2 or 3 is required, along with a willingness to pursue further development opportunities.
