Durham, Durham, United Kingdom Northumbrian Water Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Water Quality Process Technician to enhance our Water Quality Process Support team. This role is vital in delivering technical support to our operational teams responsible for providing safe drinking water to our customers in the Essex and Suffolk region.

The primary focus of this position is to assist our water supply teams in ensuring the highest water quality standards while safeguarding the environment. You will be tasked with investigating instances where water treatment performance does not align with our quality expectations.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to refine their analytical and problem-solving skills through the monitoring of treatment processes.

In this role, you will engage in continuous improvement initiatives, demonstrating your creativity in generating new ideas and enhancements, including the implementation of best practices through coaching the broader team.

You will also be responsible for raising awareness of water treatment processes and controls, fostering a higher level of competence among the Water Supply teams.

Collaborating closely with our Water Supply and Water Quality teams, you will assess asset conditions and performance using SCADA, our advanced water monitoring system that supports our operational needs. Your responsibilities will include conducting root cause analyses by reviewing data quality and accuracy, producing written reports, and identifying areas for improvement.

A valid full driving license is a requirement for this role. Please be aware that this position may necessitate a background check prior to employment.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Water Quality Process Technician role will regularly conduct performance analyses of water quality metrics. You should be adept at interpreting data to ensure our water treatment processes are functioning effectively and efficiently.

This is a dynamic role that requires the ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision, adapting to a diverse workload.

You will be responsible for writing reports and providing training to teams, thus proven communication skills are essential. Additionally, you should be capable of delivering technical support to personnel operating our water treatment processes, conducting data analysis and interpretation, and identifying issues while proposing solutions to optimize assets and processes.

This is a remarkable opportunity for individuals eager to expand their technical expertise, engage with both internal and external stakeholders, and take initiative to influence and enhance operational practices within the Water team.
