Laser Scanning Technician

Position Overview

Are you dedicated to environmental stewardship? We have an engaging opportunity within our Asset Intelligence division for a Laser Survey/Point Cloud Technician, tasked with delivering precise data regarding our assets. Collaborating with your peers, you will significantly enhance Northumbrian Water Group's digital framework for our customers, communities, and the environment.

Your role will involve the facilitation of the collection, organization, and retrieval of digital data pertaining to NWG assets. Our asset inventory is diverse, as is our data. This includes geometrical lidar scan data, imagery, CAD models, drawings, and various graphical representations.

You will develop a thorough model library of NWG's assets, focusing on the operational capture of above-ground assets using lidar scanning technology and relevant software platforms. This will involve coordinating with site operations teams and utilizing drone capture resources to plan the acquisition and integration of scanning data.

You will be responsible for procuring, deploying, and maintaining NWG's 'Asset Streetview' panoramic survey imagery platform, which provides vital asset information to various business stakeholders. This will include integrating existing unstructured data sources within content management systems, such as digitized documentation, drawings, and structured data from the Enterprise Asset Management System, Maximo.

Additionally, you will oversee and maintain the areas within NWG's corporate systems, ensuring the ability to create, modify, or append digital asset information in a controlled environment. A key focus will be on proactively remediating legacy asset information, working closely with operational teams to validate legacy content for capital projects.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will possess experience in terrestrial laser scanning and lidar point cloud processing, including registration and integration. Strong CAD skills using 3D design software (preferably Revit) and expertise in mesh/surface modeling techniques are essential.

We seek individuals who are knowledgeable about the creation and maintenance of unstructured asset information systems.

Self-motivation, the ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, and the capability to manage stakeholders and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams are crucial.

Candidates may hold qualifications such as HNC/HND or BTEC Level 3 in an engineering discipline, or possess equivalent relevant experience.
