Position Overview
Are you dedicated to environmental stewardship? We have an engaging opportunity within our Asset Intelligence division for a Laser Survey/Point Cloud Technician, tasked with delivering precise data regarding our assets. Collaborating with your peers, you will significantly enhance Northumbrian Water Group's digital framework for our clients, communities, and the ecosystem.
Your role will involve the facilitation of the collection, storage, and retrieval of digital data pertaining to NWG assets. Our asset inventory is diverse, as is our data. The digital asset information encompasses geometrical lidar scan data, imagery, CAD models, drawings, and various graphical representations.
You will develop a thorough model library of NWG's assets, which includes the operational capture of above-ground assets using lidar scanning technology and related software platforms. This will require coordination with site operations teams and drone capture resources to strategize the acquisition and integration of scanning data.
You will be responsible for procuring, deploying, and maintaining NWG's 'Asset Streetview' panoramic survey imagery platform, providing various stakeholders with asset insights. This will involve integrating existing unstructured data sources within content management, including digitized documentation, drawings, and structured data from the Enterprise Asset Management System, Maximo.
Your duties will also include managing and maintaining areas within NWG's corporate systems, ensuring access to create, modify, or append digital asset information in a controlled environment. A key focus will be the proactive remediation of legacy asset information, working closely with operational teams to validate legacy content for capital projects.
Candidate Profile
If you are enthusiastic about managing and integrating scan and model datasets, we are interested in your application.
You should possess experience in terrestrial laser scanning and lidar point cloud processing, including registration and federation. Strong CAD skills utilizing 3D design software (preferably Revit) and mesh/surface modeling techniques are essential.
We seek candidates who comprehend the creation and maintenance of unstructured asset information systems.
You will be self-driven, capable of working independently, and possess excellent communication skills. The ability to manage stakeholders, foster effective relationships, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams is crucial.
Qualifications may include HNC/HND or BTEC Level 3 in an engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
