Durham, Durham, United Kingdom Northumbrian Water Full time

Position Overview

Are you dedicated to environmental stewardship? We present a compelling opportunity to become a part of our Asset Intelligence division as a Laser Survey/Point Cloud Technician, delivering precise data regarding our assets. Collaborating with your peers, you will significantly enhance Northumbrian Water Group's digital framework for our clients, communities, and the environment.

Your role will involve the facilitation of the collection, organization, and retrieval of digital data pertaining to NWG assets. Our asset inventory is diverse, as is our data. The digital asset information encompasses geometrical lidar scan data and imagery, CAD models, technical drawings, and various graphical representations.

You will develop a thorough model library of NWG's assets, including the operational acquisition of above-ground assets through lidar scanning technology and related software platforms. This will involve coordinating with site operations teams and utilizing drone capture resources to strategize the acquisition and integration of scanning data.

Your responsibilities will also include procuring, deploying, and maintaining NWG's 'Asset Streetview' panoramic survey imagery platform, which will provide multiple business stakeholders with essential asset information. This will require integrating existing unstructured data sources within content management systems, including digitized documentation, technical drawings, and structured data from the Enterprise Asset Management System, Maximo.

You will oversee and maintain areas within NWG's corporate systems, ensuring access to create, modify, or append digital asset information in a controlled manner. Emphasis will be placed on proactively addressing legacy asset information, collaborating closely with operational teams to validate historical content for capital projects.

Candidate Profile

If you are enthusiastic about managing and integrating scan and model datasets, we would like to hear from you.

You should possess experience in terrestrial laser scanning and lidar point cloud processing, including registration and integration. Strong CAD skills utilizing 3D design software (preferably Revit) and mesh/surface modeling techniques are essential.

We seek candidates who are knowledgeable about the creation and maintenance of unstructured asset information systems.

Self-motivation, the ability to work independently, effective communication skills, and the capability to manage stakeholders and foster collaborative relationships within multidisciplinary teams are crucial.

Qualifications may include HNC/HND or BTEC Level 3 in an engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Commitment to Diversity

At Northumbrian Water/Essex & Suffolk Water, we embrace and value Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity, encouraging you to bring your authentic self to work. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse community across all teams and structures.
