Position Overview

Northumbrian Water is dedicated to delivering exceptional water and wastewater services throughout the North East, while also operating as Essex & Suffolk Water to provide drinking water in challenging conditions across parts of Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk. As a Water Resource Management Specialist, you will play a pivotal role within our dynamic Water Resources Team, focusing on regulatory compliance and strategic planning for both immediate operations and long-term resource management across our operational regions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the preparation and submission of regulatory data and comprehensive reports.
  • Contributing to the development of regional water resource plans and the company’s Water Resources Management Plans (WRMP).
  • Assisting in the compilation of Supply Demand Balance Index (SDBI) submissions, Abstraction Returns, and Annual Performance Reviews.
  • Gathering weekly resource data to support short-term operational management.
  • Evaluating Target Headroom and Outage Allowance, along with operational and treatment process loss data, to inform the supply-demand balance.
  • Compiling demand and supply data, populating planning tables, and preparing water resource zone supply-demand balances.
  • Supporting the ongoing review and updates of Drought Plans and conducting annual health checks.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a self-motivated and organized approach, with a keen eye for detail and data accuracy. You should be numerically adept, with experience in data collection, analysis, and presentation. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to convey complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compliance with regulatory standards and alignment with industry best practices is crucial. A degree in a scientific or numerical discipline is required, and familiarity with regulatory data reporting and water resource planning principles will be advantageous. You should be able to foster collaborative relationships within the team and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in data management processes.

A valid driving license is necessary for travel to various office locations for meetings.
