Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced healthcare pathway coordinator to enhance our Clinical haemoglobinopathy service and support the sickle cell transformation initiative. This role is integral to developing comprehensive support systems for individuals living with sickle cell disease, ensuring their needs are effectively addressed.

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the administrative processes associated with patient pathways, guaranteeing a seamless and efficient experience for patients throughout their treatment journey. Additionally, the role involves providing robust administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the administrative aspects of patient pathways, ensuring a streamlined service for patients during their treatment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a primary contact for patients, facilitating access to healthcare professionals, appointment information, and addressing various inquiries.
  • Managing clinic profiles to optimize capacity utilization, including regular assessments of clinic performance and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Delivering an efficient secretarial and administrative service to a multidisciplinary team, incorporating digital dictation and voice recognition technologies, and ensuring quality control of documentation.
  • Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure prompt and effective handling of all correspondence.
  • Typing letters and documents not generated through voice recognition and contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • GCSE A Level or equivalent standard of education.
  • ECDL certification.

Desirable Criteria

  • AMSPAR or equivalent qualification, demonstrating a good understanding of medical terminology.
  • Supervisory or office management skills equivalent to certificate level.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in medical secretarial roles and/or pathway administration.

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Proficiency in various IT applications, including Microsoft Office.

Desirable Criteria

  • Familiarity with IT systems such as CRS, eRS, EMIS, and EPR.
