Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a unique opportunity to become a part of the HPB department at Barts Health NHS Trust as a Band 4 Healthcare Pathway Administrator.

This role is designed to enhance the patient experience through effective management of administrative processes within the healthcare setting.

The successful candidate will cultivate essential working relationships with all members of the clinical and administrative teams, including nursing and medical personnel, allied health professionals, and support staff. They will serve as a vital communication link with patients, their families, general practitioners, and other external and internal stakeholders.

To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of patient pathway management. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment. This role offers the chance to engage with patients and staff to ensure a responsive and proactive service.

Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the administrative functions of patient pathways, ensuring a seamless and efficient service for patients throughout their care journey with the Trust. The post holder will also contribute to delivering a high-quality administrative service to the Gynaecology Oncology Team.

In summary, the responsibilities include:

  • Managing the administrative processes related to patient pathways and the operational effectiveness of clinical teams, ensuring compliance with quality targets.
  • Acting as a primary contact for patients, facilitating access to healthcare professionals, providing appointment information, and addressing various inquiries.
  • Overseeing clinic profiles to optimize capacity utilization, including regular assessments of clinic performance and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Delivering an efficient secretarial service to the Gynaecology Oncology Team, which includes the implementation of audio dictation and voice recognition services, along with quality assurance of documentation.
  • Typing correspondence using audio dictation and voice recognition technologies.
  • Collaborating with the clinical team to monitor genetic cases and coordinate monthly multidisciplinary team meetings.

  • A solid understanding of medical terminology acquired through education, training, or work experience.
  • Proficiency in IT, including ECDL or equivalent experience with various software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
