Position Overview

An excellent opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to become part of the GI Services Division.

This division encompasses both surgical and medical specialties focused on managing diseases and disorders related to the digestive system. The role involves meticulous oversight of surgical pathways, playing a vital part in a bustling elective service. Your contributions will be essential in achieving various targets, including theatre utilization, RTT compliance, and effective waiting list management.

The ideal candidate will embody a patient-centered philosophy and possess experience in a dynamic NHS team, aligning with the Trust's core values.

Key Responsibilities

You will collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure a seamless pathway for patients within the service. As the primary point of contact for patients throughout their journey from referral to treatment, you will facilitate communication and support. The role will involve a hybrid working model.

Being a team player with outstanding communication abilities is crucial, as is the motivation to enhance the patient experience. Familiarity with 18-week pathways and prior experience in admissions or pathway coordination will be beneficial.

In this role, you will navigate challenging situations with patients who may be anxious or distressed, employing tact, diplomacy, and empathy, consistent with Trust values.

Utilizing your developed communication skills, you will address patient concerns or complaints with compassion and understanding, striving to find solutions that reassure the patient.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths.
  • Proficient in a wide range of administrative procedures, gained through training and previous experience in an administrative role.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare Support Services, or an equivalent qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a non-routine environment, demonstrating problem-solving skills and the ability to address issues as they arise.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, resolving queries and utilizing initiative to ensure exceptional service delivery.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the NHS or a healthcare setting.
