About the Role:

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors are increasingly vital for investors, clients, lenders, and other stakeholders in both public and private sectors, both in the UK and worldwide. Concurrently, the requirements for corporate sustainability reporting are advancing and becoming more complex. There is a growing expectation for detailed and reliable information, alongside new mandatory obligations on the horizon, as well as a fundamental demand for transparent and comparable reporting.

The ESG team at Drax is dedicated to maintaining a robust and effective ESG function that supports and informs the newly established Sustainability Framework. This team ensures governance and accountability throughout the organization, guaranteeing that ESG disclosures are compliant and aligned with evolving market practices while delivering strong ESG performance that supports the Group's broader strategy and ambitions.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    Assist in the execution of a double materiality assessment in the upcoming year.
  • Conduct and uphold risk assessments concerning ESG issues, ensuring that ESG considerations are integrated into risk assessments across various functions through suitable mechanisms.
  • Oversee and enhance the ESG data management system; ensure the collection and analysis of all ESG metrics, along with external assurance for applicable ESG metrics.
  • Facilitate effective external ESG disclosures, which include:
    - Generating ESG content for annual reports and the corporate website
    - Completing ESG surveys and scorecards for investors and other stakeholders
    - Addressing customer surveys as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of emerging requirements and evolving market practices regarding ESG.
    Ensure that insights and lessons learned from all activities are communicated to the business, and that the responsible board leader is addressing them appropriately.

Who We're Looking For:

To excel in this position, candidates should possess experience in ESG disclosure, including report generation, non-financial data reporting processes, internal controls, and external assurance. A solid understanding of ESG frameworks, disclosure requirements, and emerging regulatory expectations, as well as investor demands related to these areas, is highly desirable.

Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues across all levels of the organization. Additionally, project management skills, including decision-making, time management, organization, and evaluative capabilities, are crucial.
