About the Role
The Sustainability division operates within the Economic Growth & Sustainability team, focusing on a variety of initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable economic development and addressing climate change challenges. Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and securing external funding to support economic revitalization and sustainable projects.
- Managing competitive bids and submissions to ensure effective resource allocation for enhanced outcomes.
The team has successfully secured over £6m through various funding programs aimed at promoting business growth, community development, and skills enhancement. A significant aspect of this role involves engaging stakeholders to prioritize interventions that align with funding objectives, particularly in supporting local businesses in their decarbonization efforts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advocate for sustainability initiatives across North Northamptonshire by contributing to the development and execution of a Climate Change Strategy and Carbon Management Plan.
2. Collaborate with various departments to identify and launch innovative projects that minimize the Council's environmental impact.
3. Monitor and report on the progress of the Carbon Management Plan and related sustainability activities.
4. Develop and implement strategies that promote carbon reduction across the region.
5. Evaluate business proposals and provide guidance on applications for the Council's Climate Change Investment Fund.
6. Foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support the Council's sustainability objectives, including leading the Zero Carbon Working Group.
7. Seek out external funding opportunities to advance climate change initiatives and related projects.
8. Analyze new legislation and policy developments to create informative reports and guidance documents that shape the Council's sustainability approach.
About You
Candidates should possess a Level 4 qualification (Degree or equivalent) in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field, or have relevant experience in a similar role. Proven expertise in sustainability practices and climate change strategies is essential.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly, are crucial for success in this position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of building effective partnerships and driving collaborative efforts towards sustainability goals.
