Job Description:

We are seeking a permanent Sustainability Advisor / Coordinator to join one of the UK's most successful Tier 1 building & civil engineering main contractors, known for its stability and fast-growing forward order book.

This is a desirable and rare opportunity based on the following:

The company has a close-knit team and is involved in projects such as commercial, industrial, student accommodation, and hotels.

Role:

As a Sustainability Advisor, your duties will include:

  • Assisting with data collection for Net Zero Carbon Reporting requirements.
  • Liaising with the Commercial Team / Design Team / Project Team to obtain information and analyze procurement schedules, drawings, and commercial documents.
  • Understanding the Net Zero Framework and ensuring compliance with the latest guidelines from UKGBC, Government, RICS, etc.
  • Maintaining accurate data and ensuring the use of appropriate evidence for reporting.
  • Improving the collection, input, and reporting of Sustainability and Net Zero data.
  • Assisting with the development of Net Zero reporting processes.
  • Providing brand support for Sustainability and Net Zero capability materials, presentations, and documents.
  • Acting as a Sustainability / CSR champion within the business.
  • Ensuring data quality for emissions reporting.
  • Influencing design and build processes to meet Net Zero targets.
  • Generating innovative ideas to help reduce carbon emissions in the industry.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Sustainability Advisor role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Previous work as a Sustainability Advisor / Coordinator / Sustainability Consultant or similar role.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant sustainability or construction subject.
  • Ideally, previous construction main contractor or consultancy employment history.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, highlight trends, and turn data into actionable information.
  • A genuine passion for sustainability.
  • Understanding of the principles of Sustainability and Net Zero.
  • Understanding of Net Zero frameworks.
  • Experience in data/statistical analysis and reporting.
