Ebury is the home of non-fiction at Penguin Random House, and was the winner of Publisher of the Year at the British Book Awards 2024. We are a dynamic and agile team, constantly discovering new talent, creating bestsellers, and growing author brands. We have an exciting opportunity for a Publicity Officer to join the team and work across our lifestyle publishing. This opportunity is offered on a 12-month fixed term contract, covering a period of secondment in the team.

As part of the Ebury Communications team and our Lifestyle Hub, you'll work closely with authors and agents as well as our sales, international, editorial and marketing teams to create attention grabbing publicity campaigns. Our Communications team's main role is to connect our books, brands and authors to the right audience, you'll reflect this in your ideas, strategy, plan and campaign content.

Responsibilities

This is a fantastic opportunity to build relationships, learn and develop publicity skills. In the role, you can expect to:

Manage your own campaigns and also assist Campaign Managers and the Head of Campaigns.Write press releases and campaign plans, secure impactful press / TV / radio / podcast coverage.Plan and action author events and form relationships with press, producers, bookshops, agents and authors.Keep abreast of trends and topics in the news that you can hook our books to as well as feeding into internal meetings and author pitches. Please note that this role will require you to sometimes work evenings and weekends. What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you'll need to have had some exposure to publicity, broadcast or have agency experience. You do not need to have a publishing background, we welcome applicants from any sector with the relevant skills - if you have a passion for the books we publish and an understanding of publicity, we want to hear from you.

We'll be assessing your application on:

Demonstration of excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.Evidence you can create and implement outstanding publicity campaigns across all media channels.Organisational ability and confidence prioritising a high workload including multiple authors and deadlinesEvidence of having been a flexible team player and an efficient problem solverAn interest in non-fiction and the type of lifestyle publishing you'd be working on.
