The Role

The Self hub is in search of an enthusiastic and proactive Editor to assist the senior commissioning team in crafting bestselling titles that educate, empower, and inspire innovation.

Reporting to the Editorial Director, you will oversee the management of acquired titles throughout the entire publishing cycle until the final product is achieved. Responsibilities include drafting cover copy, briefing design teams, coordinating production timelines, and negotiating with freelance contributors. This position is ideal for a self-motivated assistant editor with a positive outlook and a strong collaborative spirit.

Candidate Profile

You will:

  • Possess experience in managing UK-originated titles through the complete publishing process, ideally with skills in structural and line editing.
  • Have a keen eye for detail, coupled with outstanding proofreading abilities.
  • Be adept at multitasking, prioritizing a diverse workload, and proactively managing deadlines and budgets.
  • Exhibit confidence and sensitivity in communication, capable of building and maintaining effective relationships while providing exceptional author care.
  • Demonstrate an interest in audience preferences and trends within the health and wellbeing sectors, and be able to produce creative copy and clear design briefs that reflect this understanding.

Minimum Criteria

  • Experience in managing UK-originated books through the entire publishing process.
