Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Secretary to join our team at Victoria Cross & Eldene Surgery. As a Medical Secretary, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our doctors and health professionals, ensuring the smooth operation of our practice.
Main Responsibilities
As a Medical Secretary, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing general secretarial support to doctors and health professionals, including word processing and audio typing skills.
- Transcribing and typing referral letters as dictated by clinicians.
- Assisting the Practice and Business Manager and PA with clerical and administrative duties.
- Establishing and maintaining filing and administrative systems.
- Receiving and initiating telephone calls, taking messages and dealing with queries.
- Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information.
- Providing cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Confident and mature outlook, with a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality and health and safety in the workplace.
- Good IT and keyboard skills, with experience of using SystmOne clinical system.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
