As a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber within our Connect service, you will play a crucial role in transforming the lives of those struggling with drug and alcohol issues. Our comprehensive community drug and alcohol service provides essential support to individuals across Wiltshire. You will operate within a dynamic prescribing service under the guidance of our Clinical Services Manager, collaborating with our Clinical Team, specialist Recovery Workers, and Peer Mentors to enhance the wellbeing of a diverse clientele.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber in a high-demand prescribing service, your responsibilities will include managing opiate substitute treatments, conducting alcohol and opiate detoxifications, and administering relapse prevention medications. In conjunction with the broader Wellbeing Team, you will also assist the nursing team with Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations, working closely with mental health, physical health, and social care services. Your role will foster a collaborative environment that strengthens connections between Turning Point and external professionals and agencies.
In addition to conducting prescribing clinics and performing health and wellbeing assessments, you will participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure robust governance and support team learning and development. Your duties will also encompass delivering both targeted and opportunistic clinical interventions, which may include liver elastography, ECGs, Dried Blood Spot Testing (DBST) for blood borne viruses, Pabrinex, and Buprenorphine prolonged-release injections, as well as Hepatitis B vaccinations when clinically indicated.
You will engage in prescribers meetings, receive one-on-one clinical supervision, and attend national prescriber/clinician meetings to further your learning and continuous professional development.
As a valued employee, you will have access to RCNi for revalidation assistance, along with support from the Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist), Clinical Services Manager, and Turning Point's Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services.
