As a community-focused Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber within our Connect service, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of those grappling with drug and alcohol issues. With a strong commitment to supporting others, you will also have the opportunity to enhance your own professional journey through valuable experience and training.
Our integrated community drug and alcohol service provides essential support to individuals across Wiltshire. You will collaborate within a dynamic prescribing service under the guidance of our Clinical Services Manager, working alongside our Clinical Team, Recovery Workers, and Peer Mentors to promote the well-being of a diverse clientele.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber in a bustling prescribing environment, your responsibilities will include managing opiate substitute therapy, alcohol and opiate detoxifications, and relapse prevention medications. In conjunction with the Wellbeing Team, you will also assist the nursing team with Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations, fostering close collaboration with mental health, physical health, and social care services. Your efforts will contribute to a cohesive approach that strengthens connections between Turning Point and external professionals and organizations.
In addition to conducting prescribing clinics and performing health and wellness assessments, you will participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure robust governance and support team learning and development. Your role will also involve delivering targeted and opportunistic clinical interventions, which may encompass liver elastography, ECGs, Dried Blood Spot Testing (DBST) for blood borne viruses, Pabrinex, and Buprenorphine prolonged-release injections, as well as Hepatitis B vaccinations when clinically indicated.
You will attend prescriber meetings, receive one-on-one clinical supervision, and participate in national prescriber/clinician meetings to further your learning and continuous professional development.
As a valued employee, you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, along with support from the Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist), Clinical Services Manager, and Turning Point's Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services.
