Our comprehensive community drug and alcohol service provides vital support to individuals across Wiltshire. You will operate within a dynamic prescribing service under the guidance of our Clinical Services Manager, collaborating with our Clinical Team, specialist Recovery Workers, and Peer Mentors to promote the well-being of a diverse range of individuals.

Key Responsibilities

As a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber in a bustling prescribing environment, your responsibilities will include managing opiate substitute treatments, conducting alcohol and opiate detoxifications, and overseeing relapse prevention medications. In conjunction with the broader Wellbeing Team, you will also assist the nursing team with Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations, working closely with mental health, physical health, and social care services. Your role will foster a collaborative approach that strengthens connections between Turning Point and external professionals and agencies.

In addition to leading prescribing clinics and performing health and wellness assessments, you will participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure robust governance and support team learning and development. Your duties will also encompass delivering targeted and opportunistic clinical interventions, which may include liver elastography, ECGs, Dried Blood Spot Testing (DBST) for blood borne viruses, Pabrinex, and Buprenorphine prolonged-release injections, as well as Hepatitis B vaccinations when clinically indicated.

You will attend prescriber meetings, engage in one-on-one clinical supervision, and participate in national prescriber/clinician meetings to further your learning and professional development.

As an employee, you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, along with support from the Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist), Clinical Services Manager, and Turning Point's Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services.
