Our comprehensive community drug and alcohol service provides essential support to individuals across Wiltshire. You will operate within a dynamic prescribing service under the guidance of our Clinical Services Manager, collaborating with our Clinical Team, Recovery Workers, and Peer Mentors to enhance the wellbeing of a diverse range of clients.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber, you will engage in opiate substitute therapy, alcohol and opiate detoxification, and relapse prevention medication management. As part of the Wellbeing Team, you will also assist the nursing team with Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations, working closely with mental health, physical health, and social care services. Your efforts will foster a collaborative environment that strengthens connections between Turning Point and external professionals and agencies.

Your responsibilities will include conducting prescribing clinics, performing health and wellbeing assessments, and participating in multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure robust governance and support team development. You will also deliver targeted and opportunistic clinical interventions, which may encompass liver elastography, ECGs, Dried Blood Spot Testing (DBST) for blood borne viruses, Pabrinex, Buprenorphine prolonged-release injections, and Hepatitis B vaccinations when clinically appropriate.

Participation in prescriber meetings, one-on-one clinical supervision, and national prescriber/clinician meetings will further enhance your learning and ongoing professional development.

As a valued employee, you will have access to RCNi for revalidation assistance, along with support from the Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist), Clinical Services Manager, and Turning Point's Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services.
