As a community-focused Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber within our Connect service, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of those grappling with drug and alcohol issues. Our integrated community drug and alcohol service provides essential support to individuals throughout Wiltshire. You will operate within a dynamic prescribing service under the guidance of our Clinical Services Manager, collaborating with our Clinical Team, specialist Recovery Workers, and Peer Mentors to enhance the wellbeing of a diverse range of individuals.
Key Responsibilities
In your role as a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber in a bustling prescribing service, you will engage in opiate substitute treatment, alcohol and opiate detoxifications, and relapse prevention strategies. As part of the broader Wellbeing Team, you will also assist the nursing team with Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccinations, working closely with mental health, physical health, and social care services. Your efforts will contribute to fostering a collaborative environment that strengthens connections between Turning Point and external professionals and agencies.
Your responsibilities will include conducting prescribing clinics, performing health and wellbeing assessments, and participating in multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure robust governance while supporting team learning and development. Additionally, you will deliver targeted and opportunistic clinical interventions, which may encompass liver elastography, ECGs, Dried Blood Spot Testing (DBST) for blood borne viruses, Pabrinex, Buprenorphine prolonged-release injections, and Hepatitis B vaccinations as clinically indicated.
You will attend prescribers meetings, engage in one-on-one clinical supervision, and participate in national prescriber/clinician meetings to further your learning and continuous professional development.
As a valued employee, you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, alongside support from the Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist), Clinical Services Manager, and Turning Point's Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services.
