As a community-focused Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber within our Connect service, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of those grappling with drug and alcohol-related issues. Our integrated community drug and alcohol service provides comprehensive support to individuals across Wiltshire. You will operate within a dynamic prescribing service under the guidance of our Clinical Services Manager, collaborating with our Clinical Team, Recovery Workers, and Peer Mentors to enhance the wellbeing of a diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities

As a community-based Non-Medical Prescriber Nurse (NMP) or Pharmacist Prescriber in a fast-paced prescribing environment, your responsibilities will include managing opiate substitute treatments, conducting alcohol and opiate detoxifications, and implementing relapse prevention strategies. Additionally, as part of the Wellbeing Team, you will support the nursing staff with Blood Borne Virus screenings and vaccinations, while working closely with mental health, physical health, and social care services. You will also foster a collaborative approach that strengthens connections between Turning Point and external professionals and organizations.

Your role will encompass running prescribing clinics, performing health and wellbeing assessments, and participating in multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure robust governance and promote team learning and development. You will deliver targeted and opportunistic clinical interventions, which may include liver elastography, ECGs, Dried Blood Spot Testing (DBST) for blood borne viruses, Pabrinex, Buprenorphine prolonged-release injections, and Hepatitis B vaccinations when clinically indicated.

You will engage in prescriber meetings, receive one-on-one clinical supervision, and attend national prescriber/clinician meetings to support your ongoing learning and professional development.

As a valued employee, you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, along with support from the Clinical Lead (Consultant Psychiatrist), Clinical Services Manager, and Turning Point's Head of Nursing and Head of Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Services.
