Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity to become a part of the Birmingham Drug Recovery Team (BRT) at HMP Birmingham in the capacity of an Administrative Support Officer. We seek a motivated and proactive individual to join our dedicated and welcoming team.

This role includes an environmental allowance for working in a secure setting, along with access to exceptional support and professional development opportunities, contributing to a service that is continuously evolving.

The BRT is committed to enhancing the quantity and quality of treatment available to individuals in custody who require assistance with substance misuse, focusing particularly on early intervention and support during initial custody. This position is vital in assisting with the monitoring and reporting of treatment outcomes, as well as providing support to the BRT team.

The ideal candidate will possess a diverse range of administrative and clerical experience, preferably within a healthcare setting, although other relevant administrative backgrounds will also be considered valuable.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the BRT team at HMP Birmingham, the successful applicant will play an essential role in delivering a high standard of service.

Responsibilities include general administrative tasks, maintaining information systems and spreadsheets, providing support for team meetings, including taking minutes, managing filing systems, scanning documents, processing correspondence, answering phone calls, and handling emails.

Candidates should possess strong computer skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook, and the ability to work independently. Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to manage competing priorities are essential. Strong interpersonal skills and a professional telephone manner are also required to effectively collaborate with staff.
