Work Arrangement: Flexible/Hybrid (3 days WFH) - May require visits to various facilities

We are looking for committed Housing Support Officers to join a Local Authority team in Hammersmith. In this role, you will deliver exceptional customer service to residents and clients seeking assistance, applying for support, or referred to our services. Your responsibilities will include evaluating homelessness applications, ensuring adherence to legal standards, and providing guidance to avert homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the primary contact for inquiries related to housing support.
2. Evaluate, manage, and make determinations on homelessness applications in accordance with relevant legislation.
3. Ensure compliance with legal requirements by issuing notifications and decisions accurately and promptly.
4. Offer guidance and support to applicants facing homelessness to prevent it whenever feasible.
5. Conduct interviews regarding housing options, assess individual circumstances, verify documentation, and update Personal Housing Plans.
6. Proactively manage a caseload of applications, ensuring thorough investigation and resolution.
7. Collaborate with internal and external partners for referrals and attend necessary meetings.
8. Perform affordability assessments and assist applicants in finding suitable housing.
9. Recommend placements into temporary housing when required.
10. Accurately issue statutory notifications and maintain comprehensive records.
11. Conduct risk assessments and comply with safeguarding protocols.
12. Evaluate applications for the housing register and determine priority based on evidence.
13. Address potential applicant fraud and assist in related inquiries.
14. Support with statutory reviews and respond to legal challenges, including court attendance if necessary.
15. Handle routine and non-routine correspondence, including complaints and inquiries.
16. Provide support to the Housing Solutions Team Leader as needed.

About You:
1. Strong problem-solving abilities with a knack for finding straightforward solutions in complex scenarios.
2. Dedication to delivering outstanding service and achieving set objectives.
3. Excellent customer service skills with the flexibility to engage through various communication methods.
4. In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, including the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act.
5. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to diverse audiences.
6. Strong investigative skills and the capacity to make decisions based on evidence.
7. Good organizational and administrative skills for maintaining records and managing cases.
8. Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office and relevant job-specific applications.
