Position Overview

The role involves overseeing a dedicated team of pharmacy technicians and support personnel to ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services aimed at enhancing patient care. This includes both technical and clinical responsibilities, as well as contributing to the education and training of pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the pharmacy technician team and support staff to deliver effective pharmaceutical services that enhance patient care through both technical and clinical support.

- Ensure optimal staffing levels are maintained to meet service demands, including the creation of weekly schedules and adjustments for unexpected absences and leave requests.

- Safely administer medications in a timely manner as part of routine medication rounds.

- Foster the ongoing development of the pharmacy technician role within the organization by coordinating activities such as medication reconciliation, compliance checks, audits, and medication administration by technicians.

- Collaborate with senior pharmacists in the development and evaluation of the pharmaceutical services provided.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • BTEC Level 3 Professional Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Evidence of continued professional development post-registration.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in leadership, management, mentoring, and performance appraisal.

Desirable Experience

  • Qualification in Accuracy Checking.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience working within a prison environment.
