Main Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical pharmacist support to the Renal specialty.
  • Proactively develop and assess specialized clinical pharmacy services for renal patients.
  • Work collaboratively on inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care.
  • Facilitate the introduction of new therapies and technologies for treating renal diseases.
  • Function as an independent prescriber, initiating and optimizing treatment plans.
  • Conduct audits, Quality Improvement Projects, and Cost Improvement Programs to enhance departmental services.
  • Deliver educational sessions on medication management in renal disease to healthcare professionals.

You will be part of a large, specialized pharmacy team across multiple specialties, supported by experienced pharmacists as you develop leadership and operational skills.

Depending on your qualifications and experience, there is potential for progression from a Senior Support Pharmacist (band 7) to a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist (band 8a) through a structured development program.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Vocational Master's degree in pharmacy (or equivalent).
  • Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Completion of a postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification or equivalent advanced practice.
  • Willingness to pursue a non-medical prescribing qualification.

Desirable

  • Completion of a non-medical prescribing course and registration as an NMP with the GPhC.
  • Progress towards Level I Faculty Membership with the RPS.

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant clinical knowledge in complex clinical pharmacy settings.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to high-quality pharmaceutical care.
  • Experience in teaching or presenting to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Dedication to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Desirable

  • Experience in Renal Medicine services.
