Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are in search of a dedicated and clinically focused pharmacist to become part of our Critical Care specialty team as a Senior Clinical Pharmacist - Critical Care and Surgery. This role is designed to provide maternity leave coverage and is structured as a fixed-term position.

This position will enhance the provision of pharmaceutical care at our healthcare facility, specifically targeting critical care and selected surgical departments.

As a member of our specialist team, you will contribute to the delivery of a pharmacy service that prioritizes clinical excellence. Additionally, this role will play a vital part in mentoring junior pharmacists in managing complex cases involving level 2-3 patients.

Benefits of Joining Our Team

By joining our organization, you will gain access to:

  • Comprehensive learning and development opportunities integrated within the clinical environment, with support for pursuing relevant training courses to enhance your clinical expertise.
  • Dedicated time for professional development during work hours.
  • Postgraduate training in pharmacy, along with support for pursuing a non-medical prescribing (NMP) qualification and other relevant postgraduate education.
  • Access to health and wellbeing initiatives and a variety of staff networks.
  • Exclusive benefits for you and your family, including discounts at various retailers, dining establishments, and recreational facilities.

If you possess relevant experience in hospital pharmacy and are eager to apply your clinical skills within a supportive environment, this opportunity may be ideal for you.

Main Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated clinical pharmacist who can effectively collaborate within the critical care and surgical specialist team. Strong communication skills and a commitment to utilizing your knowledge and experience to enhance patient care and guide healthcare professionals in the optimal use of medications are essential.

Your role will involve direct patient interaction, assisting the specialty in navigating complex treatment pathways. You will receive support to pursue your non-medical prescribing qualification (if applicable) or, if already qualified in another area, expand your expertise in this specialty.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in Cost Improvement Programs (CIP) to benefit the specialty and department. Participation in audits and Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) for presentation at specialty meetings will also be encouraged.

You will be part of a large specialist pharmacy team that spans multiple areas, collaborating closely with pharmacists at your primary site and across all locations. A team of experienced pharmacists will be available to support your professional growth.
