UHB's Leading HIV Service Seeks a Dedicated Advanced Clinical Pharmacist

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is renowned for its exceptional HIV department, one of the largest in England. We provide comprehensive care to patients both in outpatient clinics and inpatient settings, consistently recognized as a leading provider in the Midlands.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of HIV pharmacy services within UHB.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead and Develop Pharmacy Services: You will spearhead the provision of clinical pharmacy services to our HIV patients. This includes managing a team of specialist pharmacists, developing innovative adherence and prescribing clinics, and contributing to the implementation of our electronic prescribing system.
  • Strategic Direction and Collaboration: Work closely with the Clinical Service Lead to define the strategic direction of the service. Represent pharmacy within specialized networks and collaborate with local and regional healthcare organizations (including Integrated Care Systems, CSU's, and NHSE) to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Clinical Expertise and Leadership: Provide expert clinical pharmacy services to the HIV specialty, interpreting their needs and negotiating a range of pharmacy solutions. Actively participate in research, risk management, clinical intervention monitoring, and clinical audit initiatives.
  • Mentorship and Training: Cultivate your leadership skills by mentoring and supporting junior pharmacists, technicians, and undergraduate students. Contribute to the development of future pharmacy professionals within UHB.
Your Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with:

  • Significant experience as a clinical pharmacy practitioner in an acute hospital setting.
  • Substantial expertise in HIV and Viral Hepatitis.
  • Proven ability to influence and implement policy at senior management and clinical levels.
  • Experience in project management, service development, and multi-disciplinary team working.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising, developing, and appraising staff, as well as providing constructive feedback.
  • Strong budget management skills and a commitment to cost improvement programs.
  • Excellent networking abilities and the capacity to work effectively within and beyond UHB.
