Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Paediatric Surgery Clinical Fellow to join our team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out all duties of a Paediatric Surgery Specialist Registrar, participating in a 1 in 8 compliant on-call rota and supporting the provision of the outreach service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Carry out all duties of a Paediatric Surgery Specialist Registrar, including participating in a 1 in 8 compliant on-call rota and supporting the provision of the outreach service.
  • Participate in a range of academic meetings, including those involving members of other disciplines, and contribute to the development of the department's research and audit programmes.
  • Develop and maintain skills in paediatric surgery, including basic surgical training and research techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure the smooth operation of the department and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times and comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of the department's education and training programmes, including teaching and mentoring junior staff.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following essential criteria:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) or equivalent.
  • Advanced Life Support (APLS) or equivalent.

Desirable criteria include:

  • Teaching qualification.
  • At least 1-2 years' experience in paediatric surgery.
  • Team working experience.

  • Enthusiasm to teach skills to others.
