As a member of this Trust, you will collaborate closely with clinical, medical, and managerial colleagues to deliver high-quality healthcare services to patients.

Clinical Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for all aspects of documentation and care for medical and surgical paediatric inpatients, outpatients, and children presenting to the emergency department. You will assist consultants in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in paediatrics and will be encouraged to engage in departmental quality improvement initiatives.

The department has recently expanded, featuring a paediatric clinical decision unit, as well as dedicated areas for ambulant and trolley patients. Additionally, there is a separate adolescent and sensory room, along with a high dependency unit (HDU) cubicle that is distinct from the main resuscitation area, utilized for procedural sedation.

As the major trauma centre for the region, the Trust receives both adult and paediatric patients via ambulance and helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS). You will share responsibility with colleagues to provide a 24/7 service for Child Health on a rotational basis, and you will also be accountable for outpatient clinic commitments at peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Group management team.

Training and Experience:
Candidates should demonstrate competencies expected of a new ST4 level paediatric trainee or above, possess a Level 3 Safeguarding certificate, and have a thorough understanding of medical audit and quality improvement principles. Experience in conducting and completing audit projects, as well as in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and exam preparation, is essential.

We seek effective communicators who can work collaboratively within a close-knit team and cooperate with all medical and paramedical staff. Flexibility and resilience are key attributes for this role.

All staff members are responsible for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and must be aware of their specific duties related to their roles.

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020, and a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be necessary.
