London, Greater London, United Kingdom Kings College Hospital Full time £37,068 - £57,570
Position: Senior Clinical Fellow – Paediatric Neurology

Department: NHS Medical & Dental

Role: Senior Clinical Fellow

Specialty: Paediatrics

Grade: Senior Clinical Fellow

Contract Type: Fixed term: 6 months

Working Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week

Employer: King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Salary: £37,068 - £57,570 per annum, plus London zone allowance of £2,162.

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recognized as one of the largest and busiest teaching hospitals in the UK, with a turnover of approximately £1 billion. As a member of our medical staff, you will collaborate closely with clinical, medical, and managerial colleagues to deliver high-quality healthcare services to our patients.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Your duties will encompass all aspects of documentation and care for medical and surgical paediatric inpatients, outpatients, and children presenting to the emergency department. You will assist consultants in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in paediatrics and will be encouraged to participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives.

The department has recently expanded, featuring a paediatric clinical decision unit along with dedicated areas for ambulant and trolley patients. There is also a separate adolescent and sensory room, as well as a high dependency unit (HDU) cubicle distinct from the main resuscitation area, which is utilized for procedural sedation.

As the major trauma centre for the South East London, Kent, and Medway regions, King's College Hospital receives both adult and paediatric patients via ambulance and helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS). You will share the responsibility with your colleagues to provide 24/7 coverage for the unit on a rotational basis.

Outpatient Commitments:

You will be responsible for outpatient clinic duties in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Group management team.

Training and Experience:

Applicants should demonstrate competencies expected of a new ST4 level paediatric trainee or above, hold a Level 3 Safeguarding certificate, and possess a thorough understanding of medical audit and quality improvement principles. Experience in conducting and completing audit projects, as well as in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and exam preparation, is essential.

Personal Attributes:

We seek effective communicators who can work collaboratively within a close-knit team and cooperate with all medical and paramedical staff. Flexibility and resilience are key attributes for this role.

All staff members are responsible for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and must be aware of their specific duties related to their roles.

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020, and a Disclosure submission will be required.
