London, Greater London, United Kingdom Kings College Hospital Full time £37,068 - £57,570
Position: Senior Clinical Fellow – Pediatric Neurology

Specialty: NHS Medical & Dental
Role: Senior Clinical Fellow in Pediatrics

Employment Type: Fixed term contract for 6 months

Work Schedule: Full-time - 37 hours per week

Organization: King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Compensation: £37,068 - £57,570 annually, plus London zone allowance

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recognized as one of the largest and most active teaching hospitals in the UK, with a diverse range of services provided across multiple sites. The Trust is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare and fostering a collaborative environment among clinical and managerial staff.

As a member of the Trust, you will engage closely with fellow medical professionals to ensure the delivery of exceptional healthcare services to patients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Comprehensive documentation and management of medical and surgical pediatric inpatients, outpatients, and emergency department cases.
  • Collaborating with consultants to facilitate the education of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in pediatrics.
  • Participating in departmental quality improvement initiatives.

The department has recently expanded, introducing a pediatric clinical decision unit along with dedicated areas for ambulatory and trolley patients. Facilities include a separate adolescent and sensory room, as well as a high dependency unit (HDU) cubicle for procedural sedation.

The pediatric emergency department operates 24/7, staffed entirely by specialized children's nurses. Medical staffing is a joint effort between Child Health and Emergency Medicine teams, which includes a pediatric nurse consultant and an established advanced clinical practitioner program.

In addition to health visiting services, the Trust employs a team of youth workers dedicated to supporting vulnerable young individuals.

King's College Hospital serves as the major trauma center for the region, receiving both adult and pediatric patients through ambulance and air services. The facility manages a significant number of pediatric trauma cases annually, ensuring immediate access to imaging and surgical interventions.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will share the responsibility for providing continuous care for the unit, including covering colleagues during absences. You will also manage outpatient clinic commitments as agreed with the management team.

It is essential to adhere to all infection prevention and control policies established by the Trust, including hygiene protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated competencies expected of a new ST4 level pediatric trainee or higher.
  • Possession of a Level 3 Safeguarding certificate.
  • Experience in medical audit and quality improvement projects.
  • Background in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

We seek effective communicators who thrive in collaborative environments and can work seamlessly with all medical and paramedical staff. Flexibility and resilience are key attributes for this role.

All staff members are responsible for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, ensuring awareness of their specific duties related to their roles.

King's College Hospital is part of a pioneering collaboration within the academic health sciences sector, working alongside esteemed institutions to advance healthcare delivery.

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and will require a Disclosure submission to the appropriate service.
