London, Greater London, United Kingdom Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opening for the Clinical Research Fellow position in Paediatric & Neonatal Surgery. This role will be situated within a leading healthcare institution, focusing on both clinical practice and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the surgical research framework, aiding in the recruitment and management of patient data for various studies. The responsibilities will be divided into approximately 60% clinical duties and 40% research activities. The Fellow will collaborate closely with both neonatal and surgical teams to ensure the effective execution of clinical research projects.

The position will provide exposure to a diverse range of cases, including both elective and emergency surgeries. The Fellow will be expected to engage in all key neonatal surgical cases, with elective clinical responsibilities assigned based on individual experience. Opportunities for elective day case surgeries and inpatient procedures will be available, along with outpatient clinic responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and have completed Foundation and Core Surgical Training competencies. Previous experience in paediatric surgery is essential, although it does not need to be at the middle grade level. This role is ideal for candidates looking to expand their expertise prior to pursuing specialist training in paediatric surgery.

Educational Support

Research Initiatives

The department is actively involved in a variety of clinical research projects, including studies on neonatal surgery funded by national health research organizations. The Fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to these important research efforts, gaining valuable experience in clinical research methodologies.

Personal Development

We are committed to fostering a culture of continuous professional development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a reflective approach to practice and a commitment to personal growth within the field of paediatric surgery.
