About This Role

This is a groundbreaking opportunity to shape the future of paediatric and neonatal organ donation and transplantation within the UK. As a leading expert, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing national strategies that enhance clinical excellence and improve patient outcomes.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to specialist nurses across the UK, serving as a trusted resource and role model within this specialized field.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the National Clinical Lead for Paediatrics, to advocate for change and ensure robust systems, guidelines, and processes are in place to deliver high-quality care aligned with national standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive national strategy for paediatric and neonatal organ donation that seamlessly integrates with existing organizational and transplantation strategies.
  • Champion research initiatives aimed at improving organ donation, transplantation rates, and utilization within the paediatric and neonatal population.

You will also participate in the on-call service to facilitate organ donation, reporting to the relevant Organ Donation Team Manager. This role may require travel, irregular hours, and overnight stays with prior notice.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated dedication to the principles of organ donation and transplantation.
  • In-depth understanding of the unique challenges and considerations surrounding paediatric and neonatal organ donation.
  • Awareness of current advancements and best practices in paediatric and neonatal nursing within the NHS.
  • Proven ability to implement effective change within teams and across organizations.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Qualifications and Training

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a specialist nurse in a relevant field, such as critical care or paediatric nursing.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in your area of expertise.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in an allied health-related field.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
  • Valid UK driving licence.
