Position Overview

Role: Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Organization: Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust

This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering exceptional mental health services to children and adolescents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the neurodevelopmental and learning disability pathway within the service.
  • Provide direct clinical care to young individuals and their families, particularly those facing complex mental health challenges.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to manage intricate cases effectively.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments.
  • Initiate and oversee pharmacological treatments as necessary.
  • Participate in regular clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through monthly team meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A primary medical degree.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or expected completion of CCT.
  • Experience in clinical supervision and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring junior staff.
  • Expertise in managing complex emotional disorders and neurodevelopmental conditions.
