Opportunity

An exceptional opportunity has emerged within the Westminster CAMHS for a substantive Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. This role focuses on the assessment and treatment of young individuals aged 0-18 years, particularly those facing moderate to severe mental health challenges.

Team Vision

Westminster CAMHS aims to cultivate a multidisciplinary team renowned for its clinical excellence and active patient involvement. The service is committed to ongoing professional development, featuring monthly CPD sessions and collaborative meetings.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Lead the neurodevelopmental and learning disability pathway within Westminster CAMHS.
  2. Provide direct clinical care to young patients and their families, especially those with complex mental health needs.
  3. Support the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in managing intricate cases.
  4. Conduct comprehensive assessments, including psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments.
  5. Initiate and monitor pharmacological treatments as necessary.
  6. Offer psychiatric consultation to the MDT and broader CAMHS team.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A primary medical degree.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or expected completion of CCT.
  • Completed training for the Clinical Supervisor role or a willingness to undergo training.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and care quality standards.
  • Experience in teaching and supervising junior staff.
  • Expertise in managing complex cases, particularly those involving high-risk emotional disorders and neurodevelopmental issues.
