Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

This role is designed for advanced medical trainees specializing in obstetrics and gynaecology, offering a structured and nationally recognized subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology. The selected candidate will collaborate with experienced consultants and a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care while honing advanced surgical skills and comprehensive management strategies for patients diagnosed with gynaecological cancers.

Key Responsibilities

The trainee's schedule typically encompasses:

  • Three full-day surgical sessions.
  • A combined outpatient clinic.
  • A colonoscopy clinic.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Dedicated research time.

All outpatient clinics are led by consultants, ensuring the trainee receives appropriate supervision during these sessions. Surgical lists are also consultant-led, with the trainee gradually gaining the ability to operate independently under guidance.

At the institution, the combined oncology clinic and preceding MDT meeting are staffed by specialists in gynaecological oncology, clinical oncology, medical oncology, and palliative care, supported by a dedicated nursing team. This integrated approach allows for continuous clinical training across various specialties, enhancing the trainee's exposure to complex surgical cases and participation in specialized training courses.
