Liverpool, United Kingdom Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust Full time

A Consultant in Minimal Access Gynaecology Surgery post with special interest in Endometriosis is available at the Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust and will provide support to the Consultant Gynaecological Team. This will be for 6 months with a view to this job being advertised as a substantive job.

The on-call commitment for the post is approximately 1 in 11 for gynaecology only (obstetrics only in exceptional emergency situations). We have recently moved to a two-tier gynaecology rota to enable support for new colleagues. In the fullness of time the ‘Kingston’ rota will be for gynae-oncologists with different roles and responsibilities to the generalist rota. We have recently appointed 3 emergency gynaecology consultants to support acute attendances, ward admissions and emergency theatre lists.

There are excellent links with the University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the wider university, which provides collaborative support for on-going research. There is a particularly strong focus on endometriosis research headed by Prof. Hapangama.

The appointee will be expected to take part in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme and it is possible that the appointee may be offered an Honorary Clinical Lectureship by the University of Liverpool. The appointee will be required to share Postgraduate teaching of pre and post membership trainees in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and engage in the regional teaching programme. A demonstrable interest in education would be an advantage.
