Consultant in Oral Surgery

This post is advertised following the retirement of a colleague, to maintain the service delivery and teaching commitments of the department.
This department is responsible for delivering secondary and tertiary oral surgery services. Our clinical space consists of 14 surgeries and a shared day case theatre. The appointee will be expected to undertake clinical care under local anaesthesia, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia.
With a general move to more collaborative care there may be opportunities to be involved in multidisciplinary clinics depending on clinical need.
The post holder will be expected to conduct new patient and treatment activity to help maintain the Departmental patient target activities and provide consultant cover as and when necessary.
The appointee will contribute to the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
There will be opportunities within the unit to take part in and develop clinical research and quality improvement projects.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.
The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

The post holder is expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Oral Surgery and should have an innovative approach to patient care, teaching, and management.
The post holder will help to foster good relationships between the Dental Hospital and General Dental Practitioners, Community Services, Commissioners and other health care providers.
