King George Hospital, located in Goodmayes, is easily accessible and renowned for providing excellent services to the Barking and Redbridge community. Queen’s Hospital in Romford, Essex, is a large acute hospital featuring a hyper-acute stroke unit, birthing centre, 16 operating theatres, and a specialist neuroscience centre.

Job Purpose

As the Roster Support Lead, you will lead the implementation of our safe staffing policy across the organization, ensuring high-quality governance in workforce planning and operational delivery. You will guide ward Sisters/Charge Nurses and Matrons on optimal rostering practices and be responsible for reporting key metrics related to roster management, safe staffing practices, and workforce safeguards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Staffing Practices : Collaborate with clinical teams to implement safe staffing practices according to national guidelines, including those from the National Quality Board.
  • Rostering Improvements : Lead efforts to enhance roster practices, efficiencies, and compliance.
  • Systems and Processes : Ensure effective systems and processes are in place for efficient rostering across all clinical areas.
  • Staff Support and Training : Provide support, coaching, and training for staff in effective roster management and use of electronic rostering systems.
  • Communication and Coordination : Promote communication and collaboration between clinical areas and the central nursing workforce hub.
  • Risk Management : Assist senior staff in managing risks related to safe staffing levels and contribute to the Trust's safe staffing plan and roster forecasting.
  • Policy Review : Participate in reviewing rostering and safe staffing policies to ensure compliance with current standards.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting : Analyze and report data related to rostering practices, offering insights for continuous improvement.

Important Requirements:

  • NMC Registration
  • At least 6 months NHS experience in that last 3 years
  • Previous A+E experience.
  • Robust clinical knowledge, strong initiative, and a proactive approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Honesty and integrity, and a caring patient-centred approach
