Job Overview

The role entails providing comprehensive support and direction to the RMC division in the development and upkeep of the Global rostering framework.

This position is structured for 37 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of both AO grade non-uniform civil servants (NUCS) and police personnel.
  • Ensure staff welfare, manage training sessions, annual leave, and sick leave.
  • Recruit new personnel, coordinating all necessary equipment and clearances.
  • Facilitate the training of new departmental staff, offering essential support and guidance.
  • Organize team meetings and document minutes, including action plans for ongoing team and organizational development.
  • Maintain general oversight of all roster management, analyzing data to ensure accuracy and timely results from the department. This includes grade/rank, shift patterns, contracted hours, and overtime oversight.
  • Collaborate closely with MDP Chronicle to ensure the accuracy of data feeds related to skills and qualifications received by GRS.
  • Review and act on TTCG, providing data on deployable personnel while advising on cost-effective cover solutions.
  • Engage with the MDP team to assess policies and implement necessary changes to meet current operational standards.
  • Lead and guide the department to promote the use of GRS as the primary rostering system utilized by the MDP.
  • Evaluate administrative processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Assess the rostering software platform and liaise with suppliers to obtain customized quotes and timelines for development and implementation of the live system. Take charge of the delivery of new products and processes.
  • Represent the department and its policies, providing structural guidance during meetings with staff across all ranks and grades.

Compensation and Benefits

In addition to a salary of £28,300, the Ministry of Defence contributes £7,641 towards membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

Where business needs permit, some roles may allow for a blend of office and remote work. This is a non-contractual arrangement, with all office-based employees expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working hours in the office, subject to capacity and necessary workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official duties will also count towards this attendance level.

Please note that the post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits new to the Civil Service will undergo a six-month probation period.

Expenses incurred for travel to interviews will not be reimbursed.
