The post holder will be the day-to-day manager for Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities, and general stakeholder engagement activities, on two different projects, both led and supervised by Prof Irene Tuffrey-Wijne: (A) "Developing effective service models for Adult Palliative and end of life care for People with a Learning disability (DAPPLE)", funded by the NIHR; (B) "Recognising dying in people with learning disability who have conditions other than cancer or dementia", funded by Marie Curie. The team includes researchers with learning disabilities, who will support the planning and co-delivering of the activities. The research team will convene a group of 10 advisors with learning disabilities who will meet monthly online. The post holder will manage the administrative requirements of the PPIE activities; be responsible for outreach activities to wider stakeholder groups; and social media and web management for study (A).

The Person

The post holder will have excellent communication skills with a track record of communicating and engaging well with people with learning disabilities. They will demonstrate flair, enthusiasm, and innovation when faced with challenges. They need to be able and willing to think and talk about difficult issues, including end-of-life, death and bereavement. They will have EITHER a relevant professional qualification OR a postgraduate degree; significant relevant professional experience will be considered as an alternative to formal qualifications. This is an in-person post, based in Kingston.
