Position Overview
We invite applications for the role of Research Assistant/Associate specializing in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Combustion. This position plays a vital role in a funded research initiative focusing on swirl-stabilized hydrogen premixed flames.
Research Objectives
The project aims to achieve the following:
- Develop an advanced Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) database for hydrogen-air premixed swirl flames under realistic combustor operating conditions.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding and detailed analysis of the Processing Vortex Core (PVC) under both non-reacting and reacting flow scenarios.
- Identify combustor operating conditions that lead to hydrodynamic and thermoacoustic instabilities.
- Conduct an in-depth analysis of extinction strain rates and heat release rates for lean hydrogen premixed flames.
The outcomes of this research will enhance knowledge regarding flame stability limits and contribute to advancements in hydrogen-based power generation and propulsion technologies.
Research Group
Our team, located within the School of Engineering, possesses world-class expertise in CFD, turbulent flows, and turbulent reacting flows. Successful candidates will be expected to present research findings at both local and international conferences and engage with industry professionals. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong interpersonal skills, capable of networking and influencing effectively. Collaboration with PhD students and the broader research community is essential.
Employment Details
