What You'll Do?

  • Lead the operational development and oversee the delivery of an overall psychosocial strategy (psychological, social and cultural development) for England women's teams.
  • Lead the operational delivery of interventions and training which enables the development of world-leading capabilities in resilience, identity, leadership, and high-performance team culture.
  • Where required, deliver Sport Psychology services to Women's England teams, working with players, head coach, coaches and support staff to create a high performance culture and development of psychological resilience for success at the highest levels of tournament football.
  • Develop and facilitate the delivery of a comprehensive off-camp programme for National Coaches that enables the development and maintenance of Performance Psychology support services across all England pathway teams.
  • Contribute to the Performance Psychology services within the England Women's Blueprint curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with the History & Heritage Manager to ensure the history and heritage of the women's game and our identity anchors are visible throughout our England Women's teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the safeguarding team to ensure Safe & secure environments underpinned by safeguarding processes and practices to promote the welfare of everyone involved in England Women's teams
  • Plan and manage departmental budget.
  • Executes additional tasks as required to meet FA Group's changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and well-being can be maintained.
  • As part of The FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

What You'll Need?

Essential for the role:

  • Undergraduate and Masters degree in Psychology, Sports Psychology or a related field of study.
  • British Psychological or British Association of Sport and Exercise Science practitioner accreditation.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Extensive experience in leading people and team development in elite sports.
  • Proven track record in managing teams of practitioners and external service providers.
  • Outstanding academic and applied knowledge of contemporary practice in related areas.
  • Track record of successfully integrating into established and developing coaching & management teams.
  • Highly resilient with a track record of delivering in highly pressurised environments.
  • Outstanding delivery of people delivery interventions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent relationship builder.

Beneficial to have:

  • Doctorate degree in sports psychology.
  • Experience in International or club football.

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. The FA oversees England international teams across men's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, Adobe FA Women's Championship, and Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park,all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.

We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.

Your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre unless the role is advertised as a home-based contract. The contractual location of this role can be found at the top of this advert on our FA vacancy page.
