About the role…

The Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre and The Birmingham Conference & Events Centre (The BCEC) incorporates 261 hotel bedrooms and 32 flexible Conference & Events suites making it Birmingham's largest dedicated Conference Venue. Located opposite Birmingham Grand Central the business is enjoying unprecedented growth and has had major investment in the past 3 years. We are now looking for a passionate, strong and established Director of Sales & Marketing with a proven track record in MICE and Hotel sales.

You'll join us as a key member of the Senior team and will develop/create and implement strategic sales plans that drive budgeted results across all revenue channels, maximising on all possible additional spends to achieve sales targets and to expand the company's customer base. You will ensure all results are monitored, and have ownership and responsibility for ensuring sales goals are achieved, looking at strategy for the short, medium and long term.

You will source, develop and account manage the corporate & MICE business from all market sectors and geographic territories. You will maximise yield in alignment with the venues strategic goals and objectives, and take a proactive approach to sales, anticipating potential opportunities and risks. Working with the venue and central marketing team, you'll also ensure all content is up to date on all marketing channels, creating innovative and regular content/updates to ensure maximum exposure is achieved.

Effectively managing your time and resources, you'll make client visits, arrange and host FAM trips, client showrounds, telesales and email campaigns and sales blitzes that will Identify new business, maximising all sales lead opportunities to drive incremental and new revenue to the venue. Working with the sales team across our group, you'll also effectively cross sell other properties within the Cairn Group estate when opportunities arise. You will lead a Sales & Marketing Executive and a Business Development Manager providing direction and career development.

Possess excellent communication and motivation skills, you'll need to be a good co-operator and persuader, with a professional, warm, trusting and friendly approach Well informed about the market, and therefore have the ability to accurately forecast sales predictions and shifts in the marketplace, both on a national scale and also for the individual region A drive for sales generation, networking, building reputations and identifying new opportunities within social and corporate markets Ability to build and maintain long lasting relationships with existing and new clients A proven track record of success within this or a similar position with an innovative approach and the ability to react to change
