Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Procedures Coordinator to join our excellent Lung Cancer Administration Team. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, able to accurately input data and confident in the use of technology. The successful candidate will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills.

The role is based at City Hospital working Monday to Friday with core hours of 0800-1600 .

This post offers flexible working with the option of hybrid working fulfilling duties both on and off site.

We are in the process of expanding the Lung Cancer Administration team. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake HR related tasks, support and Mentor new staff alongside their own personal development.

Main duties of the job

Previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team would advantageous and you will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of cancer pathways alongside showcasing your motivation and reliability. You must be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and remain calm under pressure.

You will have an understanding of managing referrals, facilitating patient pathways and clinic/ waiting list bookings. You will also be able to prioritise your workload with constantly changing demands, meet agreed deadlines and use your own initiative. This includes ensuring referrals are dealt with in a timely manner and dealing with enquiries from patients and clinicians in person, via email and on the phone.

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential

NVQ in Administration Level 3 or equivalent experience. oEducated to GCSE standard with passes at grade C or above for English and Maths or similar through vocational training.

Experience

Essential

Proven experience of working within an NHS Trust in an administration role. Experience of waiting list management within the NHS and application of access policies. Experience of using Microsoft Office (eg Word and Excel) and Patient Administration Systems (Medway and Notis).

Desirable

Experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team

Communication and relationship skills

Essential

Must be able to clearly and accurately convey information both written and verbally to different audiences including patients, GPs, managers, administration colleagues and clinicians.

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential

Ability to recognise and advise speciality managers on operational issues affecting waiting lists and capacity. Use judgement and decision making skills. Able to interpret clinical and non-clinical information in order to input accurate information into relevant databases and also to assist with manipulation of the data for audit purposes

Planning and organisation skills

Essential

Demonstrates excellent organisational/co-ordination/work prioritisation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
